1. Understand yourself as a brand
You want to be intentional about what you post on social media. Make sure it aligns with your vision and goals for your business. We suggest investing in a course to learn how to market yourself as a stylist. Once you have an understanding of how to market your brand, you can plan content that will represent who you are, while engaging your audience.
Not only do you want your content to professionally speak for you but you also want it to add value to your viewers. When you focus on adding value, educating your audience on what you do and how you can best help them, they begin to trust you and your expertise. Be consistent and plan out your content so you always have something for your followers to engage with. Don’t be afraid to post too much or get discouraged if everyone doesn’t engage with your content; as long as it aligns with your brand. If you need some creative help, look at what other brands or similar people are posting and recreate in your own way. Canva is a great resource for creating content that can be used for free!
2. Get clear on the benefits of working with you
Let people know exactly what they are investing in. People like to know what they’ll gain from working with you. Breakdown your services and packages so people have an understanding of what’s included. There are people that have no idea what styling entails so over-explaining can help those people understand what you do and why they need your services.
3. Creating problem solving content
Understand the pain points of your potential clients and create content that solves those problems for them. A good question to ask yourself is “Who am I serving and how can I solve their problems?” Create content based on that answer. You can also ask your audience questions to learn more about their needs and how you can help them. Using blogs and newsletters is also a great way to let your audience know how you can be the solution to their problems. Don’t be afraid to recycle content through all these different channels because you could be reaching someone who missed it the first time around.
4. Give a strong call to action
Always give your audience an opportunity to engage. Let them know what the next steps are or how they can stay in contact with you. Continuously open the lines of communication with your followers!
5. Position yourself as an expert
The best way to position yourself as an expert is to be confident! Don’t be afraid to say who you are and what you do. Don't second guess yourself and other people won't second guess you. It’s easier to be confident when you’ve done your research to back up what you’re saying, so it’s important that you continue to seek opportunities to learn. Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready. Another way to position yourself as an expert is to get featured in the media. Whether it’s a podcast, publication, or public event, a feature gives your audience more insight into who you are and your credibility.
Remember, you are your brand. Invest in yourself!
